Harry Potter Conferences

Is anyone going to Ascendio or LeakyCon next summer?

I went to my first conference the summer before last - Infinitus - and had a blast. I'm looking forward to going to Ascendio next summer and was wondering if anyone else was going!

I suppose these conferences all take place in the United States. I would love to go to such events but unfortunately we don't have them where I live. What do they exactly consist of?

Well, at least in my experience, the conferences consist of a core of lectures - which can be character debates, live podcasts, Harry Potter Alliance rallies, etc - as well as a bunch of "informal" fun stuff, like quidditch, wizard rock, fandom movie screenings, a yule ball, "meet-ups", etc. C'est enorme!

Do you live in or close to the UK? Because although it's true that most Harry Potter conferences and events are in the U.S., I've heard there are similar fandom events in England.

And, of course, though it's not exactly ideal financially, there are always the people who fly to the conferences. I met quite a few international attendees at Infinitus.

It definitely sounds interesting. It's funny that you say "C'est enorme", since I actually live in Paris (though I'm not French). England is not very far from here, so I'll most certainly try to attend one of the conferences held there. And who knows, maybe in the US too someday.
